Bank Overview

Approving business loans, accepting business deposits, and servicing personal checking and savings accounts of JA BizTown citizens is the work of the bank. Employees need computer skills and attention to detail.

CEO

I am responsible for working with many of the other CEOs and CFOs in JA BizTown, to approve business loans and accept deposits. I keep track of which loans are paid off and will give a report on loan status at the Afternoon Town Meeting. My job stays very busy most of the day and I have to keep my desk organized and be comfortable entering numbers into the computer. I need to stay focused to be successful at my job.

CFO

I spend my day working on a computer, processing payroll checks for all JA Bank employees. There is always A LOT of paperwork on my desk so I have to be organized as I pay all the bills for our business. If time is available, I sometimes help the CEO keep the loan contracts organized.

Teller

There are always 2 or 3 tellers working in the bank. In the morning, we issue ID cards to all citizens. Later, using a computer, we help customers by depositing their payroll checks into their account. Many times we also give them cash back so that they have some spending money for snacks, a newspaper, or to make a donation to the nonprofit in town. Our schedule is sometimes very busy, and then minutes later, things are very slow!

Savings Officer

All citizens in JA BizTown open a savings account when they receive their first paycheck. I help them open that account! Using my checklist, I keep track of everyone who has opened an account and follow-up with those who forget. I also give out savings certificates to everyone to encourage them to continue saving, and give a savings report at the Closing Town Meeting.

File Clerk

After citizens deposit their payroll checks, I organize and file them all by account number. I am also responsible for purchasing our business supplies each morning and when the Savings Officer goes on his/her first break I fill in and help citizens open their savings account.
