Steak ‘n Shake is the place to be when citizens are on break! You’ll often find someone eating lunch or stopping by for a drink or healthy snack. The restaurant accepts JA BizTown cash only – no checks.
I am the leader of my business. I visit the bank for our loan, order our advertising and answer questions for visitors and my employees. I give a speech at the Morning Town Meeting and tell everyone about our business and the products we will sell. My job stays very busy most of the day and I fill in for and help all my employees when they need help or are out on a break.
I spend my day working on a computer, processing payroll checks for all Steak ‘n Shake employees. There is always A LOT of paperwork on my desk so I have to be organized as I pay all the bills for our business. I am also responsible for depositing our business income in the bank. Because the restaurant only takes cash payments I have A LOT of dollar bills and quarters to count before making a business deposit!
I am responsible for all food items at our restaurant – everything from popping popcorn to displaying our other healthy snack items. We have some scarce items that I have to divide into small groups so that everyone has an equal chance to buy them, no matter what break they are on. I also help keep our restaurant clean at all times.
I am responsible for all drink items at our restaurant – everything from ordering supplies to serving beverages to customers. I make sure there are signs in the restaurant to let customers know the choices they have and cost of drinks. I clean up spills as they happen and help customers as needed.
I collect money from our customers for all the food and drink purchases they make during the day. I also keep track of the drinks ordered by teachers and mentors, so that our restaurant gets credit for those sales too. Keeping tables and counters clean is an important part of my job too.
My job is to make our customers feel welcome in our restaurant! I greet them, help them find a seat, and remind them that Steak ‘n Shake accepts cash only. Another part of my job is letting our volunteer mentors know when their son or daughter will be taking their lunch break so that they can eat together and catch up on the day’s events.
